How to write a date in French

La Date

The format for date in French is different from what we write in English.

Lets have a look :

The date should be written in “Date Month Year” order.

Format :

Le + Date (in number) + Month (in words) + Year (in number)
Ex :

12/08/2019 is written as Le 12 août 2019


But if you talk about the first day of the month, it should be written as

Le + 1er (premier) + Month (in words) + Year (in number)
This is the only date that uses ordinal numbers "first" instead of cardinal "one".

Ex :

1/08/2019 is written as Le 1er août 2019 

1.15/08/2019 :
2.14/07/2019 :
3.25/12/2019 :
4.01/01/2019 :
5.21/06/2019 : Note : the month name should start with small letter unlike English
