Les Accents

Accent Aigu : This accent is used only with letter “e” 

                                  e  ------------->  é (ay) 

Accent Grave : This accent is used only with letters “a”, “e” and “u” 

                                  a ---------------> à (aa)
                                  e ---------------> è (aiy)
                                  u ---------------> ù (eiw)

Accent Circonflexe : This accent is used on all vowel “a”,”e”, “i”,”o”,”u” 

                                   a ---------------> â (aa)

                                   e ---------------> ê (a)
                                   i  ---------------> î (iih)
                                   o ---------------> ô (ooh)
                                   u ---------------> û (uuh) 

Accent Tréma : This accent is used on “e” and “i”

                                   e --------------> ë
                                   i -------------->  ï

Cédille : This accent with a consonant letter “c”

                                  c ---------------> ç (s as in sun in English)

• Accents are pre decided.
• Accents are the part of a word. 
• Missing an accent is considered as spelling mistake.
